We often get the feeling that we are too small to make a big impact on the world. There are so many causes, so many petitions, so many welfare issues… and we feel overwhelmed with the responsibility to assist everyone. It’s not humanly possible to do it all, but that doesn’t mean we should feel defeated. Making small, positive changes will always contribute to a bigger and more impactful outcome. We simply need to begin.

We have a challenge for you this February, and we hope you’re going to get involved. In the spirit of making small changes to create a large and lasting impact, we invite you choose free-range eggs over standard eggs. That’s all. Simple, small change that will have resounding positive effects. Here’s how.

Benefits Of Choosing Free-Range Eggs Over Standard

There are a number of benefits for both chicken and human alike when choosing free-range eggs over standard eggs.

  • Free-range chickens live a happier life and display normal behavioural traits, such as walking, foraging, and having dust baths
  • Free-range chickens also tend to be healthier and less prone to disease
  • Free-range eggs contain up to a third less cholesterol than standard eggs
  • Free-range eggs have between three to six times more vitamin D than standard eggs
  • Free-range eggs have a quarter less saturated fat than standard eggs
Differences Between Free-Range Eggs And Other Means Of Farming

Free-range eggs come from chickens who are basically allowed the opportunity to roam outdoors. This enables them to live a normal life, to display normal physical habits, and to live in a state of optimal health.

The specifics that classify free-range, as opposed to other standard egg farming methods that are considered humane, are as follows:

  • Enriched colony-cages: chickens are kept in cages with perches and nesting boxes with 0,07m² of available space
  • Cage-free chickens and eggs: chickens are kept indoors with 0,12m² of available floor space, complete with nesting boxes and perches
  • Free-range chickens and eggs: chickens have access to just over 2m² of outdoor space for at least six hours per day

Simply choosing free-range eggs over any other standard egg can start to effect positive change for more ethical farming practices. Make the choice today. Join the movement.
