From Dialogue to Action for Animal Welfare in Africa

The 10th Africa Animal Welfare Conference (AAWC 2026) will take place in Lusaka, Zambia, from 5–7 October 2026.

This landmark conference brings together policymakers, animal welfare organisations, researchers, development partners, practitioners and other stakeholders to examine how animal welfare commitments can be translated into practical action across Africa.

The 2026 conference is centred on the theme “Dialogue to Action – Collaborative Implementation for Animal Welfare, Climate and Sustainable Development in Africa.” The theme reflects the growing need to connect animal welfare with climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development and community livelihoods.

The conference will provide opportunities for knowledge sharing, policy dialogue, collaboration and the development of practical approaches to improving animal welfare while supporting resilient communities and sustainable development.

The conference is a hybrid event, allowing participants to attend in person at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka or participate through live streaming.

Registration is currently open. The published registration fees are USD 100 for in-person participation and USD 25 for virtual participation, excluding accommodation and flights.
