6th Standing Group of Experts Meeting on African Swine Fever in Africa

Strengthening Africa’s Response to African Swine Fever

The 6th Standing Group of Experts (SGE) meeting on African Swine Fever (ASF) in Africa will take place online from 8–10 September 2026.

African Swine Fever remains an important animal-health challenge, with implications for pig production, food security, livelihoods, biosecurity and disease-control systems. The meeting provides a technical platform for experts to consider disease-control priorities and strengthen coordinated approaches to ASF across the African region.

For animal welfare organisations, ASF is particularly relevant because effective disease prevention and control can contribute to better animal-health management, responsible production practices and reduced risks to affected livestock populations.

The event is officially listed by WOAH’s Regional Representation for Africa as an online meeting.

Participation information should be obtained through WOAH Africa, as the official event listing does not currently provide a public registration form.
