Investing in Africa’s Agri-Food Systems

The Africa Food Systems Forum 2026 will bring together stakeholders from across Africa and beyond to advance practical solutions for stronger, more inclusive and sustainable food systems.

Taking place in Kigali, Rwanda, the 2026 Forum marks the 20th edition of the Africa Food Systems Forum. The programme will bring together policymakers, farmers, researchers, investors, development partners, businesses and civil society to explore investment, food security and nutrition, climate resilience, youth and digital innovation, and trade and value chains.

For organisations working in animal welfare and sustainable development, the Forum provides an important opportunity to connect discussions around food systems with livestock, animal health, responsible production and resilient livelihoods.

AU-IBAR is participating in the Forum, including a high-level side event on “Transforming Africa’s Livestock Economy: Market Linkages, Value Addition and Inclusive Growth” scheduled for 3 September 2026.
