DESCRIPTION:On the occasion of World Health Day 2026\, France will host the One Health Summit in Lyon. This summit marks a critical turning point as the world moves from political pledges to concrete\, science-based results in safeguarding the health of humans\, animals\, plants\, and our shared environment. \nIn a global landscape defined by interconnected climate and ecological challenges\, the One Health approach is the only path toward resilience. For the first time\, this summit will unite Heads of State and Government with international organizations\, private sector leaders\, and civil society to accelerate the One Health Joint Plan of Action (2022-2026). \nKey Themes & Focus Areas\nThe summit will prioritize the primary drivers of infectious and non-communicable diseases\, focusing on: \n\n\nZoonotic Reservoirs: Preventing spillover at the human-animal interface. \n\n\nAntimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Addressing one of the greatest threats to modern medicine. \n\n\nSustainable Food Systems: Ensuring food security and safety across the value chain. \n\n\nPollution & Environment: Mitigating health risks from environmental degradation. \n\n\nSummit Objectives\n\n\nAction-Oriented Multilateralism: Moving beyond silos to create a common “One Health” culture. \n\n\nInvestment & Implementation: Engaging public and private stakeholders to fund concrete health and surveillance solutions. \n\n\nScientific Innovation: Using evidence-based research to reshape global institutional frameworks.
