DESCRIPTION:From Dialogue to Action for Animal Welfare in Africa\nThe 10th Africa Animal Welfare Conference (AAWC 2026) will take place in Lusaka\, Zambia\, from 5–7 October 2026. \nThis landmark conference brings together policymakers\, animal welfare organisations\, researchers\, development partners\, practitioners and other stakeholders to examine how animal welfare commitments can be translated into practical action across Africa. \nThe 2026 conference is centred on the theme “Dialogue to Action – Collaborative Implementation for Animal Welfare\, Climate and Sustainable Development in Africa.” The theme reflects the growing need to connect animal welfare with climate resilience\, biodiversity conservation\, sustainable development and community livelihoods. \nThe conference will provide opportunities for knowledge sharing\, policy dialogue\, collaboration and the development of practical approaches to improving animal welfare while supporting resilient communities and sustainable development. \nThe conference is a hybrid event\, allowing participants to attend in person at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lusaka or participate through live streaming. \nRegistration\nRegistration is currently open. The published registration fees are USD 100 for in-person participation and USD 25 for virtual participation\, excluding accommodation and flights.

DESCRIPTION:One Health\, One Action: Prevent AMR Now\nWorld AMR Awareness Week 2026 will take place from 18–24 November 2026 under the theme “One Health\, one action: Prevent AMR now.” \nAntimicrobial resistance\, or AMR\, occurs when microorganisms such as bacteria\, viruses\, fungi and parasites no longer respond effectively to medicines used to treat infections. \nBecause antimicrobial resistance affects people\, animals\, plants\, food systems and the environment\, it is fundamentally a One Health challenge. Veterinary services\, animal producers\, animal-health professionals and animal welfare organisations therefore have an important role to play in promoting responsible antimicrobial use\, disease prevention\, biosecurity and improved animal health. \nWorld AMR Awareness Week provides an opportunity for organisations\, professionals\, communities and policymakers to raise awareness and encourage practical action against antimicrobial resistance. \nThe WHO confirms that the 2026 campaign will run from 18–24 November 2026\, with the theme “One Health\, one action: Prevent AMR now.” \nGet involved\nOrganisations can use the week to develop educational content\, webinars\, community activities and professional discussions linking antimicrobial resistance with animal health\, welfare\, disease prevention and responsible production.
